On the June 23rd SmackDown Episode a Women’s Tag-Team Unification match will take place to unify the WWE and NXT Women’s Tag-Team match.
WWE Women’s Tag-Team Champions Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler vs NXT Women’s Tag-Team Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn
This will introduce a new set of WWE Tag-Team Championship belt design and will be more in line with the other newly designed WWE Championships.
This was part of a overall plan to update all WWE Championships in the WWE Universe. A new Undisputed Universal Championship and WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship have already been unveiled.
There is also discussions to merge the WWE and NXT tag-team divisions.
WWE officials feel there is a lack of teams on both brands and the Women’s Tag Division has gotten stale due to new teams in the division.
The idea would be for the WWE Undisputed Women Tag-Team Championships to be featured on all brands of RAW, SmackDown and NXT.
Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler are being chosen to pave this new path and bring prestige back to the WWE Women’s Division.
