Cody Rhodes is set to return to WWE at the 2023 Royal Rumble taking place on January 28th 2023.
WWE has been pushing the Cody Rhodes return promos on WWE programming in recent weeks.
Cody Rhodes made a significant promo on the RAW after WrestleMania 38 episode where decanted that he would win the WWE World Championship for his father and family as a symbol of his journey and mission for returning to WWE.
With Vince McMahon returning to WWE Cody Rhodes current trajectory to the top of WWE becomes cloudy as Vince McMahon still does not hold the Rhodes family or the Hart family in high regards.
Still Cody Rhodes is a highly marketable name and a main event match with Roman Reigns is a big ticket seller.
The story of Cody Rhodes returning back to WWE and winning the Royal Rumble after a torn tricep surgery is a great comeback story and WWE is planning to have the American Nightmare go on a WWE title run at some point.
Cody Rhodes is currently penciled in to be one of the finalist in the 2023 Royal Rumble match and WWE officials have gone back and forth on who should be the finalized winner of the men’s Royal Rumble match. The big competition for Cody Rhodes in the men’s Royal Rumble match is Sami Zayn and one other mystery winner.
WWE may also wait until the Roman Reigns dominant run is complete before inserting Cody Rhodes into the championship picture and talks of a new WWE championship could introduce a new championship for Cody to capture.
There are many avenues for Cody Rhodes to win WWE Gold and not all of those plans require him to pin Roman Reigns.
Vince McMahon and Triple H will be making the final decision on who finally pins Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes is not on that short list of names.
Still expect Cody Rhodes to get a featured match on the WrestleMania 39 card and expect The American Nightmare to have huge success after WrestleMania 39.
