WWE announced that SmackDown will return to three hours starting with the first episode of 2026 on January, 2nd live from Buffalo, NY.
SmackDown originally aired for three hours from January to June 2025. This new longer format is planned to use more screen time for WWE Superstars and increase revenue.
SmackDown has aired since the debut episode on August, 26th 1996 on the “UPN” Network. The brand moved to numerous networks throughout the years including UPN, The CW, MyNetworkTV, SyFy, Fox and USA Network.
