On July 12th 2025 during Saturday Night’s Main Event WWE began to conspire on one of their most elaborate worked angles in company history.

Seth Rollins vs LA Knight took place during that event and in the match Rollins appeared to tweak his knee.
This knee “injury” was the start of WWE working everyone to pull off “The Heist Of The Summer”.
Immediately upon entering the backstage area the WWE medical team tended to Seth Rollins and the word quickly spread in the locker room that he was hurt.
WWE knew they wanted a major moment to happen at SummerSlam as this was the first two-night event for this PLE. The Seth Rollins injury/cash-in had begun being planned in June/July and many pieces had to come together for this to work.
The only ones that knew of the worked angle were Endeavor President Ari Emanuel, WWE President Nick Khan, Triple H, Bruce Prichard, Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.
“WWE proceeded to work talent by reassuring them that Seth Rollins was injured and that they were waiting for scans to be done.” – a WWE source tells SW.
WWE sent Seth Rollins to their Alabama medical doctors to get “checked out” to add legitimacy to this angle. WWE knew this would throw everyone off and create confusion around his injury.
Seth Rollins attended RAW television tapings in the days after his “injury” and arrived on crutches greeting everyone backstage from the tv production crews, stage set up personal and WWE talent.
Everyone went to Rollins at RAW and offered their support and concern and he played it off like an actor.
The students of the Seth Rollins owned Black & Brave wrestling school were also sending out their get well wishes and concerns and they were all told that Seth Rollins is indeed injured.
WWE not only worked this angle with their own talent and staff but also wanted to confuse the WWE Universe online.
Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman knew there had to be more and had Becky Lynch film him walking on crutches while out on a family day with their daughter and post it to her socials.
Almost three weeks of working an injury was not easy and many within WWE started to question the status of Seth Rollins. When talent asked how he was top WWE officials reiterated he was injured and unable to compete.
WWE officials know which WWE Superstars “talk” to some wrestling dirt sheets and they were led astray to confuse those websites.
The WWE television production crew which gets a WWE Superstar theme music set list with exact times to play each WWE Superstar theme songs were also led astray as they did not see Seth Rollins theme song “Burn It Down” on the list on the day of rehearsals for SummerSlam.
“Everyone backstage has never seen this much effort and details go into a storyline angle.” – a WWE source tells SW.
The day of SummerSlam arrived and when Seth Rollins showed up on crutches and in street clothes to support the event many were too busy to really think about what might happen.
At the end of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Gunther vs CM Punk match is when all was revealed.
Seth Rollins appeared threw away the crutches and proceeded to cash-in his Money In The Bank contract on CM Punk to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
WWE had worked everyone and we mean everyone and now internal discussions reveal that they will use even more elaborate angles to work storylines into shocking moments.
This is the new age of WWE storytelling and it is about to be a wild ride in this new era.
