Kota Ibushi is in advanced discussions to Sign With AEW sources tell SW.
Kota Ibushi last match with New Japan Pro Wrestling was on October 21, 2021 when he suffered a shoulder injury in the finals of the G1 Climax tournament against Kazuchika Okada. Ibushi injured his shoulder on a missed phoenix splash and the bout was immediately stopped.
Personal differences between Ibushi and NJPW led to his departure and Kota Ibushi recently returned to in-ring action at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport on March 30th 2023 in Los Angeles, CA where he defeated “Speedball” Mike Bailey.
Now as AEW looks to have a tremendous summer schedule in 2023 AEW officials have had negotiations with Kota Ibushi about joining All Elite Wrestling.
Kenny Omega which is Kota Ibushi’s real life close friend has been instrumental in getting Ibushi close to signing with AEW.
Appearances at ALL OUT in September have been discussed.
AEW officials are already discussing multiple dream matches involving Kota Ibushi and the ELITE are also excited at the possibility of creating the “Golden ELITE” in AEW which is the stable consisting of Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi.
