WWE officials are discussing Edge to have WWE Universal Championship or WWE Championship title runs in the near future and SummerSlam 2020 is the target date.
Edge made a triumphant return to professional wrestling in 2020. The WWE Universe has quickly gravitated back to the “Rated-R” Superstar and he is currently involved in a epic storyline with Randy Orton that many pro wrestling fans and writers agree is some of WWE’s best storytelling work in years.
After returning from WWE many fans have wondered how long Edge will continue as a active wrestling superstar, the answer to the delight of WWE fans is for a few more years. Edge signed a lucrative WWE deal in 2019 worth millions that includes him staying with WWE as a in-ring competitor.
WWE is looking to capitalize on Edge’s heroic return and WWE Universal Championship or WWE Championship opportunities are being discussed.
We previously reported (read below) that WWE is looking to have a blockbuster SummerSlam 2020 in Boston due to the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting WrestleMania 36 weekend plans and forcing WWE to hold a crowd-less WrestleMania at the WWE Performance Center.
Edge in a WWE Universal or WWE Championship match would be a sure fire way to send ratings soaring and make SummerSlam a must-see ppv.
