SummerSlam is officially 35 years old this year. The first SummerSlam took place on August 29th, 1988 from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The Main event saw “The Mega Powers” Hulk Hogan and “Macho “Man Randy Savage vs “The Mega Bucks” André The Giant and the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase.
SummerSlam is traditionally known as one of the “Big 4” premium live events along with WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series.
WWE is discussing multiple high profile matches for the premium live event on August 5th being held at the Ford Field in Detroit, MI.
WWE wants their biggest stars on display at SummerSlam and a few surprises are in the works.
