Rey Mysterio (45 years) is the new United States Champion.
Rey Mysterio defeated AJ Styles (who held the belt for 134 days) on this weeks RAW episode to become new United States champion.
WWE is hoping to re-sign Mysterio to a new contract deal and prevent the world famous Rey Mysterio from leaving the company.
Rey Mysterio signed a two-year deal in September 2018 keeping him with the company till September 2020 but he has a 18 month opt out clause in his contract allowing him to leave WWE in March 2020 right before WrestleMania on April, 5th 2020.
WWE has a big plans for a Rey and Dominik Mysterio storyline planned for WrestleMania 36.
Dominik Mysterio will likely go by the ring name “Prince Mysterio”
WWE officials are confident in their chances of keeping Rey.
Sources have indicated to Slice Wrestling that Rey Mysterio is highly interested and locked in on one last great run heading into WrestleMania 36 and the idea of a WrestleMania moment with his son is too good of a opportunity and a legacy moment to pass up.
