Rey Mysterio trained in the proud Mexican tradition of lucha libre before he was even old enough to drive, Rey Mysterio adopted his ring name in tribute to his uncle and hid his face under a mask as lucha custom dictates. In a world of hooded high-flyers, the exhilarating Mysterio stood out enough to earn the attention of ECW and WCW where his thrilling bouts with such rivals as Eddie Guerrero and Psicosis became the stuff of legend among sports-entertainment fans. His greatest successes, however, were realized after joining WWE in 2002.

Dominik Mysterio is following in his father’s footsteps as the most legendary luchador of all time. First gracing the WWE Universe’s screens as a child during his father’s legendary rivalry with Eddie Guerrero, Dominik has re-emerged as a burgeoning Superstar in his own right.

Rey & Dominik Mysterio captured WWE Tag-Team Championships together and all seemed well in the Mysterio household. Dominik has since turned to the dark side joining forces with “The Judgement Day”; a stable consisting of Finn Bálor, Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest.

Rey Mysterio has discussed retirement in the near future and plans call for Rey Mysterio to have his retirement match against Dominik.

WWE officials are discussing a Rey vs Dominik Mysterio “Mask On The Line” Match. As the Mysterio’s are proud of their Mexican Luchador heritage there can be no bigger retirement match than to have his mask on the line in his retirement match and pass the torch to his son.

Putting one’s mask on the line against a hated opponent is a tradition in lucha libre as a means to settle a heated feud between two wrestlers.

The idea would be that Dominik would takeover the Mysterio mask from his father and continue to legacy of the Mysterio family tradition.

WWE is planning for Dominik Mysterio to go by the name “Prince Mysterio” after he takeover Rey’s mask.

WWE is currently discussing for this match to take place at WrestleMania 39 in HollyWood, CA in 2023.
