WWE officially announced WrestleMania is set to take place in Saudi Arabia in 2027.
This will be the first time a WrestleMania takes place outside United States of America or Canada and this will be a history making first-ever international location for WWE’s biggest show of the year.
The announcement took place at the prestigious Las Vegas Fontainebleau hotel. In attendance were Shawn Michales, The Undertaker, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Liv Morgan, Logan Paul, Seth Rollins, Triple H and Minister Of Saudi Arabia Entertainment Authority Turki Alalshikh.
The news comes after Saudi Arabia general entertainment authority Turki Alalshikh announced it in a Snapchat video on Sept. 10. Alalshikh was in attendance for the announcement.
Turki Alalshikh is a Saudi Arabian sports promoter. Also known as Turki Alalshikh, he serves as an adviser at the Royal Court under the rank of Minister and as Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority(GEA). As chairman of the GEA, Alalshikh is credited with leading significant developments in Saudi Arabia, including contributions to sports and cultural arenas.
This is part of the WWE 10-year deal with the Saudi Ministry of Sport to host live events in the country which includes two major PLE’s per year and at least one WrestleMania during the partnership.
The WWE x Saudi Arabia partnership was originally signed as a 10-year strategic partnership with the Ministry of Sport in 2018, which would see the hosting of pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming events in Saudi Arabia. In 2019, WWE announced it had “expanded” its partnership with the General Entertainment Authority through 2027, under which it would hold two “large-scale events” in the country per-year. These events have been held at venues in Riyadh and Jeddah.
WWE has begun suggesting American WWE fans to travel to Saudi Arabia to experience the big event. The announcement was met with mixed reactions by the wrestling community and WWE is already reaching out to WWE Legends and WWE Hall Of Famers to come out of retirement and participate at WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia.
WWE absolutely will make major money with this scale of event being held in Saudi Arabia as this has been something the Saudi Arabia general entertainment authority has been trying to achieve since the partnership begun in 2018.
