WWE is highly pleased with the Paul Heyman vs Cody Rhodes promo segment which took place on this week’s RAW episode.
Paul Heyman was heavily involved in writing the promo as he does with The BloodLine material. Cody Rhodes handled his parts of the script.
WWE officials feel this was the perfect kickoff to the Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes program which will culminate on night 2 of WrestleMania 39 on April 2nd 2023.
WWE is planning on using the Rhodes legacy and the Samoan Dynasty legacy as major sticking points to this program. The idea is that the line “Wrestling has more than one Royal family” in the Cody Rhodes theme song “Kingdom” is how WWE will approach this program as both Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes hail from pro wrestling royal families.
WWE also wants to emphasize on the journey Cody Rhodes has taken from requesting his WWE release in 2016 to help start AEW and eventually returning to WWE in 2022. These career milestones will be emphasized in the coming weeks as this program proceeds.
